The ancient county town of Dorchester is a dignified and bustling market town steeped in history and intrigue. As the Roman town on Durnovaria, the settlement played an integral role in ancient Britain, as detailed by the County Museum. After the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685, the notorious Judge Jefferys held the bloody assize in Dorchester, and later in 1834 the trial of the Tolpuddle Martyrs took place at the Old Shire Hall. Dorchester is still very much the Casterbridge of Thomas Hardy's novels, and many of his references were drawn from identifiable buildings and sites in and around the town.
Present day Dorchester is a growing town with a population of around 15,000. The Wednesday open market with over 500 stalls has been an institution for many years and still attracts large crowds whilst a more recent feature is the innovative and award winning village of Poundbury as developed by the Duchy of Cornwall under Prince Charles' supervision.
Our Dorchester Office is situated within yards of the main High West Street and attracts a high volume of would-be-tenants; the window display of photographs is an ideal showcase for rental properties currently available.
Apart from the town itself, our busy office covers the Piddle Valley and areas to the north of Dorchester and West Dorset, towards Bridport and the Somerset borders.
